Matched Betting Experiment - Day 20

Current profit: $2,474.70

I take my Saturday morning drive up to Michigan to place a $100 bonus bet and a $100 risk free bet.

Today I haven't received many promo offers and I'm having a little trouble finding good plays. I end up placing 11 bets (technically 15, I'll explain) today but most have small boosts and will only provide a small profit.

I do make a true bet today with no opposing bet to offset any losses. The offer I receive is for a risk free parlay bet. I end up taking the risk because I know I'll get my money back if I lose and I can convert the bonus bet into a small loss. Although I prefer to take bets with guaranteed profits, this type of offer is quite common and I want to experiment to see if these types of offers should be implemented into my strategy. I decide to go with a $100 bet. Now if this bet loses, I will be given a $100 bonus bet which I can normally convert at a 70% - 85%. So I am making a play which could end up losing $30 or less.

I also get another unique offer today. What I'm offered is a $5 bonus bet if I make 5 live bets of $1 or more. I have not made a single live bet because the odds are constantly changing during game play. Matched betting is not ideal for this type of bet because after you find the play and set up the opposing bets, those odds are just about guaranteed to have changed. What I decide to to is place 5 $1 bets. Above I counted this as 1 bet even though there were actually 5. My thoughts on this play are that I will randomly win a couple of the qualifying bets, then after converting the $5 bonus bet I will come out ahead. I make 5 random bets on live games simply by choosing bets with favored odds and no other consideration.

Sunday morning. First my special bets mentioned above. My risk free parlay bet ends up winning and supplying a profit of $56.09. 3 of my $1 bets end up winning and giving me a return of $4.70. So I'm 30¢ down but have unlocked a $5 bonus bet.

The remainder of my bets give me a profit of $156.69 + my return from above gives me $212.48 for the day.

20 day total: $2,687.18

First a quick correction. I forgot to deduct my qualifying bet loss of from yesterday from my total profit. I thought I lost $1, but after settling up the bet in ProfitDuel, I realized I actually lost 50¢. So my current profit is $178.99. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 1

*** TLDR – I’ve decided to experiment with matched betting and I’m going to share my experience on this blog. I originally started sharing my journey on Reddit, but have added it here as well for visibility.  I’ve been watching this sub and looking for a side hustle for quite a while. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 4

Another day, another lesson (or two) learned. Current profit $231.49. So as I stated yesterday, I have $150 in bonus bets to use last night. So I jump on ProfitDuel to find a match. I find a great bet which is going to turn my promo funds into around $111. Now this return is based on the odds which were current when the deal was found. I check the first sportsbook and the odds have changed slightly. This leads me to check the 2nd sportsbook and I see that the odds there have changed drastically. I put the new odds in the calculator and realize it's going to drastically reduce my profit. Lesson learned. Always double check the odds before placing the bet. So I decided to find another bet. After viewing the other options the bets are either for later this week or require a large counter bet for which I don't currently have the bank roll to cover.
