Matched Betting Experiment - Day 13

Current profit: $890.71

The first day of Michigan betting has taught me a couple things.

- Some sportsbooks allow you to continue betting as normal, but some require a new account be set up for the new state.

- When looking for bets, I kept seeing sportsbooks which were not available in Michigan. I quickly learned that you must change the state in ProfitDuel to find appropriate bets for the new state.

- Michigan sportsbooks have lots of casino promos which are not offered in Ohio. ProfitDuel offers a blackjack tool to turn these promos into profit. But I won't have time to utilize that during my short trip. But I'll be able to turn those into profits in the future.

I set up 2 new accounts today to take advantage of their introductory offers. These sportsbooks are not available in Ohio. I also set up a new account for the sportsbook call BetRivers. I have an account with them in Ohio, but a new account is required for Michigan. They have a promo offer, but it doesn't appear to have been applied to my new account. So I don't attempt to take advantage of that offer.

The first offer I get is pretty simple. Bet $5 and get a $100 bonus bet. I make a mistake with the 2nd promo offer. I think it is an offer to get up to $1000 back on your first bet if the bet losses. I later learn that this offer is actually much more lucrative. They are giving me a $100 risk free bet each day for 10 days. But due to my misunderstanding, I end up with a first day loss double what it should be. Lesson learned. Always be sure to thoroughly review the intro offers.

On to the bets. I end up placing 7 bets today and also have my week old bet which will be settling today. That bet was a $100 bonus bet. My 7 bets include the $5 qualifying bet to unlock my $100 bonus bet. I have a $20 bonus bet available which I place. I place 3 boosted bets and 2 risk free bets. My first risk free bet will unlock a $100 bonus bet if it loses. My 2nd risk free bet is the one I mentioned above for the new sportsbook. Due to my misunderstanding of the offer, I place this bet for $200 instead of the $100 which should have been placed. This is going to double my loss on this bet.

Sunday morning. My week old bet finally sets and nets me a profit of $83.12. My $20 bonus bet profits $14.30. The boost bets return: $31.81, $22.22 & $5.75. I received 2 very generous boosts. I was offered a 100% profit boost for those bets, so the return on those bets were much higher than my normal boosts returns. My $5 qualifying bet gives me a small profit of 25¢. And finally my risk free bets. The first one wins and returns a profit of $40. The other, which I messed up, gives me a loss of $54.69. As I mentioned, this loss is double what it should be because I misunderstood the offer. It did unlock a $100 bonus bet which will cover the loss. But I missed out on $25 or more of profit from this play.

13 day profit: $1033.47

First a quick correction. I forgot to deduct my qualifying bet loss of from yesterday from my total profit. I thought I lost $1, but after settling up the bet in ProfitDuel, I realized I actually lost 50¢. So my current profit is $178.99. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 1

*** TLDR – I’ve decided to experiment with matched betting and I’m going to share my experience on this blog. I originally started sharing my journey on Reddit, but have added it here as well for visibility.  I’ve been watching this sub and looking for a side hustle for quite a while. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 4

Another day, another lesson (or two) learned. Current profit $231.49. So as I stated yesterday, I have $150 in bonus bets to use last night. So I jump on ProfitDuel to find a match. I find a great bet which is going to turn my promo funds into around $111. Now this return is based on the odds which were current when the deal was found. I check the first sportsbook and the odds have changed slightly. This leads me to check the 2nd sportsbook and I see that the odds there have changed drastically. I put the new odds in the calculator and realize it's going to drastically reduce my profit. Lesson learned. Always double check the odds before placing the bet. So I decided to find another bet. After viewing the other options the bets are either for later this week or require a large counter bet for which I don't currently have the bank roll to cover.
