Matched Betting Experiment - Day 7

Current profit: $297.55.

So I end up placing 7 bets on Sunday. These include 2 free bets, 3 risk free bets, 1 bet where I stumble upon some favorable odds & finally 1 traditional parlay bet. Let's review.

Free bets - I have 2 bonus bets available. 1 for $100 & 1 for $50. I placed both of these bets, but I was not paying careful attention and placed my $100 bet for next Saturday. So I will have to wait for that return. Now I've noticed that if you make a mistake, many of the sportsbooks will allow you to cancel the bet for a full refund. For whatever reason, I cannot cancel this bet. So I'll have to wait almost a week to get that profit.

Risk free bets - As we saw yesterday, these bets normally lose money which will then be covered once the bonus bet is issued and redeemed. This makes me think I'll have another day of negative profit.

Random bet - So the tool which ProfitDuel offers to find your bets is called the Dutch Matcher. When you pull up the matches, sometimes you'll find profit making bets which involve no boost, free bets or other offers. The odds from the 2 sportsbooks are simply right to make a profit. I stumble upon one of these today.

Traditional parlay - So this totally goes against the betting rules I've set for myself. But this is what happened. I get an offer for a 100% boost for a parlay bet up to 100%. I feel to lazy to place 3 bets to meet this requirement, so I decide just to risk it. As explained previously, a parlay bet consist of 2 or more bets withing a single bet. I take a look at the NBA games for the day. I bet on the 2 games with the highest odds to win. Of course with high odds come low payout. But I'm getting a 100% boost, so that will up my profit if I win.

Monday morning. As usual, I immediately check my bets. Here's how they turned out: Free bets - The $100 bet won't be paid until Saturday. The $50 bet wins me $36. Risk free bets - These lead to losses of $29.80 & $26.30 and a small profit on the 3rd bet of $2. This helps me understand that these types of bets do not always need to lose money. I'll need to be more careful with my choices for these. Random bet - This one gave me a profit of $9.62. Traditional parlay - I ended up winning this one and it returned a profit of $20.49.

7 day profit: $309.56.

A modest profit for the day, but it is setting me up for some substantial profit due to the bonus bets I'm gaining.

First a quick correction. I forgot to deduct my qualifying bet loss of from yesterday from my total profit. I thought I lost $1, but after settling up the bet in ProfitDuel, I realized I actually lost 50¢. So my current profit is $178.99. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 1

*** TLDR – I’ve decided to experiment with matched betting and I’m going to share my experience on this blog. I originally started sharing my journey on Reddit, but have added it here as well for visibility.  I’ve been watching this sub and looking for a side hustle for quite a while. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 4

Another day, another lesson (or two) learned. Current profit $231.49. So as I stated yesterday, I have $150 in bonus bets to use last night. So I jump on ProfitDuel to find a match. I find a great bet which is going to turn my promo funds into around $111. Now this return is based on the odds which were current when the deal was found. I check the first sportsbook and the odds have changed slightly. This leads me to check the 2nd sportsbook and I see that the odds there have changed drastically. I put the new odds in the calculator and realize it's going to drastically reduce my profit. Lesson learned. Always double check the odds before placing the bet. So I decided to find another bet. After viewing the other options the bets are either for later this week or require a large counter bet for which I don't currently have the bank roll to cover.
