Matched Betting Experiment - Day 4

Another day, another lesson (or two) learned. Current profit $231.49.

So as I stated yesterday, I have $150 in bonus bets to use last night. So I jump on ProfitDuel to find a match. I find a great bet which is going to turn my promo funds into around $111. Now this return is based on the odds which were current when the deal was found. I check the first sportsbook and the odds have changed slightly. This leads me to check the 2nd sportsbook and I see that the odds there have changed drastically. I put the new odds in the calculator and realize it's going to drastically reduce my profit. Lesson learned. Always double check the odds before placing the bet. So I decided to find another bet.

After viewing the other options the bets are either for later this week or require a large counter bet for which I don't currently have the bank roll to cover. As you know, I'm looking for action every night. So I decided to look for another play for the night.

I received an offer for a deposit match up to $25. So I deposit $25 into the account to get my $25 free. I find a bet against another sportsbook where I also have bonus bets available. So I think I have a slick bet. I'll plan on placing both of my bets with promo funds. To me, this looks like pure profit. Now I had to place a $50 bet with one sports book because my promo bets were $25 each. I put $50 into the calculator and it tells me that I will need to bet $30 against it. So this means I'm actually putting in $5 of my money.

Now the calculator is telling me that I will make either $64 or $65 depending on who wins. Sounds good to me for 15 minutes of work. So I'm in. I've been working a lot of overtime so I didn't have time to look for any other bets for the night.

Friday morning. First thing I do is go check how much I've won. Here I learn lesson 2 for the day. My $50 bet wins, but the total winnings was $20.50 when I was expecting to get over $70. So apparently the promo funds are not won, only the profit from the bet. So my profit from the night was on $15.50 after subtracting the $5 I put in. Disappointed but I'm still learning, so the lesson is of value as well. I'll be honest. I can't understand how my other bets have been working beautifully while this one went awry. I'm going to trust the process and the tools and see where it takes me. I'm still confused by the bet, but we move on.

I've got $100 left in bonus bets for tonight. And I'm also reaching my first weekend which I assume will be filled with betting options

First a quick correction. I forgot to deduct my qualifying bet loss of from yesterday from my total profit. I thought I lost $1, but after settling up the bet in ProfitDuel, I realized I actually lost 50¢. So my current profit is $178.99. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 1

*** TLDR – I’ve decided to experiment with matched betting and I’m going to share my experience on this blog. I originally started sharing my journey on Reddit, but have added it here as well for visibility.  I’ve been watching this sub and looking for a side hustle for quite a while.
