Matched Betting Experiment - Day 3
First a quick correction. I forgot to deduct my qualifying bet loss of from yesterday from my total profit. I thought I lost $1, but after settling up the bet in ProfitDuel, I realized I actually lost 50¢. So my current profit is $178.99.
I mentioned yesterday that I had a slick bet lined up and that I made a big mistake. Unfortunately my mistake prevented my great bet as well.
So on to the mistake. I’ve used the same online username for a little over 20 years. I decided it would be a smart idea to not only use this same username with the sportsbooks, but to also start writing a diary on Reddit (with the same username) describing how I’m using matched betting to make a profit. Now matched betting is perfectly legal. But the sportsbooks do not want you consistently winning. They can ban you at any time and the new sportsbook I signed up for banned me before I could even make a single bet. If you’ve followed my previous posts, you may notice that my username has changed. I’m now trying to cover my tracks since I’ve used the same username with other sportsbooks already. Please learn from my mistakes.
My brilliant idea was that I was going to place my opposing bets using the bonus bets from 2 sportsbooks. This would essentially be a completely free bet and I was expecting a return of $250-$300. This didn’t work out for 2 reason. 1 – the first account was banned before I could even place a qualifying bet. 2 – the other sportsbook just happened to be in maintenance all day. So I couldn’t even use those promo funds for my daily bet.
Now ProfitDuel lays out all of the promo offers for you as part of their service. I went to find my next move. Now I still have about $300 left unused of my bank roll. As I reviewed the offers, they were either a bit too involved based on the time I had available last night or required more money than I currently have available.
So I check my inbox. I created a new email which is dedicated to my new hobby. I find an email offering me a deposit match up to $25. So I deposit $25 to the account. Now I’ve made deposits through PayPal (directly from checking) and Venmo and the funds are always available to use immediately. When I go to check my bonus offers, I see that I somehow have not only the $25 bonus, but also an additional $50 bonus available to me. Now I don’t know exactly how I qualified for that. But I’m sure gonna use it.
I find a bet. I bet my $75 in promo funds and the calculator showed me that I had to place an opposing bet of $178.80 with another sportsbook. As you’ve seen above, these sportsbooks are quick to ban suspicious activity. Betting such a specific amount especially with the 80 cents in change included is a red flag to them. So I round up that bet to $180. I already had the balance in that account to cover my bet. Placing a smaller bet than the last 2 days was a nice change and caused none of the nervousness I experienced with my large bets made the previous days.
Thursday morning. My $180 bet loses, but my bonus bets win paying out $232.50. Minus my investment of $180 leaves me a profit for the day of $52.50 and a 3 day profit of $231.49.
Now that Bally Bet is out of maintenance, I’ll have $150 in promo funds to play with tonight.
I’ll be back tomorrow with an update.
