Matched Betting Experiment - Day 10

Current profit: $574.34

Today I have a bit of choice paralysis. What I mean is that I have so many options and plays available, I’m not sure where to start. So I’m working on a process to ensure I’m using my time effectively when choosing my bets. Of course if I have any bonus bets or other introductory offers, I focus on these first. Next I check my email, which I explained earlier is dedicated to betting only, to find any new bonuses. Finally, I log into each sportsbook and check the current promos. Maybe not the most efficient process, but it’s a start.

So it is Wednesday which limits the betting options. But I’m still able to find 5 bets for the day. 2 risk free bets, 2 boosted bets and 1 standard bet to utilize the 5% back intro offer from ESPN Bet.

Thursday morning. So the underdogs were winning last night. The way that the risk free bets work, you bet on a long shot with the sportsbook offering the risk free bet and you bet on the favorite through a 2nd sportsbook. These bets are designed to limit your loss when the favored team wins and supply your profit immediately when the underdog wins. When the underdog loses, you then receive your bonus bet which you turn into profit. So the underdogs won for me last night. That means that instead of my normal small loss for my risk free/no sweat bets, I actually turn those directly into profit. My $100 bet gives me a profit of $45 and my $15 bet profits $7.

My boosted bets bring in $5.56 & $5.80. As I mentioned yesterday, ESPN Bet is giving me 5% back on each bet I make up to $400. This offer expires on December 12. So I have about 28 days left to maximize this reward. My bet gave me a profit of 50¢. But the 5% back added $9.50 for a total of $10 profit. Since I can withdraw this money immediately, I’m counting it as profit. Doing some math, it will require about $8,000 in bets to receive the maximum $400. I don’t know that I can reach that goal. But I will try and place at least 1 bet per day to maximize this promo offer.

First a quick correction. I forgot to deduct my qualifying bet loss of from yesterday from my total profit. I thought I lost $1, but after settling up the bet in ProfitDuel, I realized I actually lost 50¢. So my current profit is $178.99. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 1

*** TLDR – I’ve decided to experiment with matched betting and I’m going to share my experience on this blog. I originally started sharing my journey on Reddit, but have added it here as well for visibility.  I’ve been watching this sub and looking for a side hustle for quite a while. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 4

Another day, another lesson (or two) learned. Current profit $231.49. So as I stated yesterday, I have $150 in bonus bets to use last night. So I jump on ProfitDuel to find a match. I find a great bet which is going to turn my promo funds into around $111. Now this return is based on the odds which were current when the deal was found. I check the first sportsbook and the odds have changed slightly. This leads me to check the 2nd sportsbook and I see that the odds there have changed drastically. I put the new odds in the calculator and realize it's going to drastically reduce my profit. Lesson learned. Always double check the odds before placing the bet. So I decided to find another bet. After viewing the other options the bets are either for later this week or require a large counter bet for which I don't currently have the bank roll to cover.
