Matched Betting Experiment - Day 9
Current profit: $523.05.
So I feel like I’m getting the hang of the betting tools and I’m ready to open a new account to get more bonus money coming in. But I messed this one up.
I opened an account with ESPN Bet. They are offering a risk free/no sweat bet for your first bet up to $1500. Now this is an amazing intro offer which could result in a profit of several hundred dollars. Although I’ve allotted $3,000 to this experiment, that money spread throughout my accounts with no easy way to quickly consolidate. The counter bet to maximize this play would require several thousand dollars and that is not doable for me right now. Now I’ve been missing out on some good bets because there are still several sportsbooks where I don’t have accounts. I want this account and decide to go in with $200 instead of $1500. I should still be able to make over $100 on the promo. So I open the account and deposit my $200. I go and find a suitable bet. As usual, I carefully check to make sure the odds match the ProfitDuel calculator. I place the first bet. When I go to place the 2nd bet, It advised me that the odds have changed and not in my favor. I quickly look to see if I can refund the first bet. I can but only as a loss. I jump to the calculator to make sure I won’t lose then go back to place the 2nd bet. The odds changed again and are now even worse. At this point, if I place the bet and the underdog wins, I’ll break even and make $0 profit. I don’t want to lose, so I place the bet. The underdog rarely wins, so I just let it ride. I keep my eye on those odds and within a couple minutes, the odds return right back to where they started. I should have waited, but I was too nervous and didn’t want to lose any money. Another lesson learned.
In addition to this first messy bet, I also place 4 other bets. 2 more risk free bets, 1 bonus bet and 1 boosted bet.
Wednesday morning. As you would expect, the underdog won for my fiasco of a bet. What this means is that I lost $0. But that promo offer should have lead to at least $100 in profit. So I consider that a loss. Now ESPN Bet has a 2nd part to their introductory offer. They will give you 5% cash back for all of your bets up to $400 (2x your initial deposit). So they have credited my account for $10. I’m unsure if I should consider this profit or not. It appears I can withdraw the $10, so I’m going to count it as profit. I absolutely plan on utilizing that to get the full $400.
As usual, I lose on my risk free bets. -$17.91 & -$1.40. My bonus bet returns a profit of $55 and my boost bet wins me $5.60.
Total for the day: $51.29
9 day profit: $574.34
I’ll be back tomorrow with an update.
