Matched Betting Experiment - Day 18

Current profit: $1,991.66

Another day, another morning trip to Michigan to make my bets. In case you forgot, I've received 10 days of $100 risk free bets. 1 each day, so I have to make the trek each day to maximize that intro rewards. I've been going to Burger King or a bagel place and sitting in their parking lot to get the internet to make my bets.

This morning I'm making my bets, but my one bonus bet tells me that they cannot accept the full $100 bet. I can either put $62 toward the bet and forfeit the rest or request that they approve the $100 bet. When this happened, I had already placed a $775 counter bet. I quickly checked to see if I could get a refund but the refund would not be for the full amount. I decide to ask them to approve the bet. I foolishly thought that it would happen within a few minutes. But they simply tell me they will notify me of their decision. I accept that and head home.

I make another couple bets that morning, but I've learned that it is less suspicious to make bets closer to the game time. So I decide to wait until after work to make the rest of my bets.

So I expected to get an email concerning my Michigan bonus bet. But as the work day passes, no email. I begin to get nervous. I have a $775 bet sitting out there and I don't know if I have the opposing bet in place to ensure a profit. I calm myself and use my knowledge. I look and see that I can easily place another bet to ensure I can limit my loss if the original bet doesn't get approved. Now as I mentioned previously, I cannot see my out of state bets on the sportsbooks which are not available in Ohio. So I have no way of knowing if the bet was approved. So after work I head back to Michigan to find out the bet was approved. Lesson learned, time wasted.

I end up making 9 bets today. 3 bonus bets (2 at $100 & 1 at $50), 1 risk free bet (to unlock a $100 bonus bet), 4 boosted bets (the boost have been plentiful) and 1 arbitrage bet.

Friday morning. Lets see the results. My bonus bets get me: $77.50, $72.73 & $36. My risk free bet ends up winning with a profit of $45. Boosted bets: $10.38, $55, $3.50 & $6.40. And my arbitrage bet gets me $9.40.

I had a bit of stress due to my inexperience. But with a daily profit of $315.91, it was well worth my time and a bit of stress.

18 day total: $2,307.57

First a quick correction. I forgot to deduct my qualifying bet loss of from yesterday from my total profit. I thought I lost $1, but after settling up the bet in ProfitDuel, I realized I actually lost 50¢. So my current profit is $178.99. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 1

*** TLDR – I’ve decided to experiment with matched betting and I’m going to share my experience on this blog. I originally started sharing my journey on Reddit, but have added it here as well for visibility.  I’ve been watching this sub and looking for a side hustle for quite a while. Matched Betting Experiment - Day 4

Another day, another lesson (or two) learned. Current profit $231.49. So as I stated yesterday, I have $150 in bonus bets to use last night. So I jump on ProfitDuel to find a match. I find a great bet which is going to turn my promo funds into around $111. Now this return is based on the odds which were current when the deal was found. I check the first sportsbook and the odds have changed slightly. This leads me to check the 2nd sportsbook and I see that the odds there have changed drastically. I put the new odds in the calculator and realize it's going to drastically reduce my profit. Lesson learned. Always double check the odds before placing the bet. So I decided to find another bet. After viewing the other options the bets are either for later this week or require a large counter bet for which I don't currently have the bank roll to cover.
